From East to West, here we provide you with what could be the perfect itinery for a complete tour of the Costa del Sol, the most important holiday destination in Spain and in Europe. Here you will find locations such as Milla de Oro, Puerto Banus, Marbella and Malaga. Since the 1960s this area has seen an unstoppable boom, and today there are literally millions of people you choose the zone for their holidays or for spending some free time.
The Costa del Sol can also be described as the Costa del Golf, or the Costa del Ocio (Leisure). The Costa del Sol begins in the west in the province of Malaga at Puerto de la Duquesa, and finished in La Herradura, passing by Nerja in the east. It borders the province of Cadiz in the west and the province of Granada in the east.
The Costa del Sol is divided into two parts, Western Costa del Sol, from -casares-y-estepona,Manilva to Malaga; and Eastern Costa del Sur which extends from the capital to Nerja close to the Grnada province.
The municipalities which make up Western Costa del Sol are Casares, manilva, Estepona, Marbella, Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Torremolinos and Malaga. Eastern Costa del Sol is comprised of the county of Axarquia and the following municipalities; Torrox, Velez-Malaga, Nerja and Rincon de la Victoria.
There are 2 general aspects which stand out in the Costa del Sol- the number of marinas, 12 in total; and the golf courses, of which there are 39. Almost every municipality in the Costa del Sol has at least one golf course, and Marbella is the locality with the most installations of this kind. Of the marinas, it is worth mentioning Puerto Banus and Marina Benalmadena.
