Tarifa and Costa de la Luz, Cadiz, Andalusia, Spain Costa del Sol
Your note
About 90 minutes south-east of Marbella you will find the most southern point of Europe: the village of Tarifa.
A 90 minutes’ drive southwest from Marbella is Europe’s southernmost point: the town of Tarifa. Constantly swept by strong winds, it has been since the late seventies a mecca for the world’s windsurf enthusiasts. More recently another trend has taken over: kitesurfing. Hundreds of kites can be seen off the 10-kilometres of beach that lay between the town and the dune of Punta Paloma.
Although it was re-conquered from the Moors relatively early (1292) Tarifa’s historic centre is worthy of Andalusia’s most beautiful juderias, the term traditionally used in larger cities like Córdoba to refer to a re-conquered town’s oldest preserved areas showing both Jewish and Arabic influence.
